Introduction

Economics is about allocating scarce resources and its consequences, by capturing how economic agents such as individuals, firms, and states make decisions. Treating from daily life to era-making changes, we, the Department of Economics offers a wide range of courses and programs that help students to take inter-disciplinary perspectives in coming up with solutions to real-world problems after gaining analytical and quantitative skills requiring to comprehend multi-faceted economies. Traditionally, Economics has been be broken down into Microeconomics, which studies individual economic agents and markets, and Macroeconomics, which focuses on the behaviors of the national or global economy. Econometrics, which is another overarching branch of economics, concentrates on quantitative methodologies to provide empirical evidences. Another analytical tools would be Mathematics and Big data techniques that endlessly converse with economic theories, current issues, and histories to reflect the real world. Indeed, given the long-pending issues and currently urgent affairs, the Department offers optional courses such as Cultural Economics, Defense Economics, Derivative Markets, Development Economics, Financial Markets, Health Economics, International Finance, Labor Economics, Public Economics, The Korean Economy, Trade Business etc. All renders Economics both an absorber of sciences and thought-provoking value-oriented guides.

Before moving to their dream jobs or a way of soul-searching, some students succeed in passing state-certificated tests or in acquiring official licenses. Academically motivated students plan to continue their studies in the master or doctoral programs.
