Course Management for Spring 2021

For the protection of faculty members and students of SJU following the continuous spread of COVID-19, the University announces the academic schedule of Spring 2021 as follows.

 

1. Course Management: Applies to all degree courses of Spring 2021 (undergraduate, graduate)

All courses must be operated ONLINE, but can be operated as below according to the number of students per course.

Even if the number of students is less than 30, face-to-face classes are not allowed if the number of students exceeds 50% of the seating capacity of the classroom. (ex. When 21 or more students are taking a course at a classroom with seating capacity of 40 students, face-to-face class is not allowed.)

 

2. Method of Course Management

Details

Face-to-face Lectures

Must follow quarantine guidelines including securing distance in the classrooms, checking body temperatures, sanitizing hands, wearing masks, ventilation, etc.

Online Lectures

The length of video recording of each course must be more than half of the time on the timetable

Class once a week: 75 minutes or more, 1 module needed

Class twice a week: 38 minutes or more, 2 modules needed


Blackboard (Recording), WebEX (Realtime), or a mixture of the two methods needed

Assignment-only lectures prohibited

Hybrid Lectures (combination of online and offline)

Online classes (recording, real-time, etc.) + face-to-face classes

The number of students attending face-to-face classes must be divided into two groups (Group A and Group B)

Attendance once a week

1st round (Group A: face-to-face, Group B: online)

2nd round (Group B: face-to-face, Group A: online)

The course type(face-to-face, hybrid, online) will be indicated at the “Course Type” column of the Weekly Class Plan, so kindly refer to it.

 

3. Etc.

1) Mid-term and Final Examination must be done face-to-face

2) In case the social distancing level is raised to Level 3 or more, all courses will be done online. (However, experiment or practical training courses are allowed to be held face-to-face only with less than 10 participants)

3) No changes on dormitory operation
