Visa Category | Cases | Rules |
D2 | Before having Alien Registration card | Students receive single entry visa from the Korean Embassy in their home-country (or other). Students may not travel abroad without having Alien Registration card as the multiple entry is not permitted. Multiple entry is possible once the students receive a valid Alien Registration Card issued by the Immigration office. |
Issuance of D2 visa | - Enrolled students with long term study program such as Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree & Ph.D. Degree are eligible. All the new admitted students must apply for Alien Registration card within 3 months of their arrival. |
Semester leave | Students lose their D2 visa if they apply for a semester leave/break. Students must exit the country (Korea) before the semester commences for the complete semester once they apply for a semester leave. The previous visa stamp on the passport or the sojourn period mentioned in the Alien Registration Card is invalid after the application of semester leave. |
Return from Semester leave | Students must inform the university for the return from the semester leave and get ‘Certificate of Admission’ issued. Students must apply for a new visa from the Korean Embassy in their home-country (or other). Students may not enter the country (Korea) with the old visa stamp or the old period of sojourn in their Alien Visa. |
Traveling abroad or home-country during vacation for 1 month or longer | D2 visa will remain valid. Students must re-enter within the valid visa period. |
Traveling abroad for short period during semester | D2 visa will remain valid. Students must come back after a short period. |
Exchange program/ Visiting Program/ Internship to abroad for less than 6 months | D2 visa will remain valid if the students are attending a program to abroad for a period of less than 6 months. Students must enter the country within 6 months after the date of departure. |
Exchange program/ Visiting Program/ Internship to abroad for more than 6 months | Students lose their visa if they are attending a program for more than 6 months to abroad. Students must receive a new‘Certificate of Admission’from the home university and apply for a new visa at the Korean Embassy. Students may not enter the country (Korea) with the old visa stamp or the old period of sojourn printed on their Alien Registration card. |
