English Data Convergence Major
Cultivating future leaders who precedes in artificial intelligence by integrating English linguistics and language engineering.
Introduction
English Data Convergence Major is supported by a diverse faculty specializing in English linguistics and Language studies. This major aims to equip students in English-centered linguistic knowledge while developing professional competence across the fields of linguistics, language acquisition, and language application. Furthermore, the major enables multifaceted approaches to language models, which lie at the core of artificial intelligence, thereby promoting interdisciplinary thinking and the practical application of academic knowledge.
In addition, the English Data Convergence Major currently offers two micro-degree programs: Language Science–AI Integration and Linguistics–AI Integration. To complete these programs, students are required to take core and advanced AI courses as well as mandatory courses in Language Science and Language and Understanding Languages, respectively. These courses are designed to help students compare human language abilities with AI language models based on linguistic theories, and to develop competencies in data creation and analysis for training AI language models as well. Furthermore, students will learn to propose AI-based applied technologies and explore their expansion into educational contexts.
