— Global research impact recognized, reaffirming Sejong University’s research excellence —
▲ Professors Sung-Wook Baik (left) and Jinsu Hwang Professor Sung-Wook Baik of the Department of Software and Professor Jinsoo Hwang of the Department of Food Service Management have been named Highly Cited Researchers (HCR) for the second consecutive year by Clarivate, a global leader in academic information analytics. The Highly Cited Researchers (HCR) list, published annually by Clarivate, recognizes researchers who have authored multiple Highly Cited Papers (HCPs)—papers ranking in the top 1% by citations for their respective fields over the past decade. Only about 0.1% of researchers worldwide are selected each year, making the designation a globally recognized indicator of exceptional academic influence and research excellence. In the HCR list of this year, a total of 6,868 researchers from more than 1,300 institutions across 60 countries were selected. In Korea, 76 researchers across 12 academic fields were included. Professor Sung-Wook Baik was named an HCR for the second consecutive year in the Cross-Field category. He conducts active research in deep learning–based visual intelligence, with a particular focus on CCTV-based computer vision technologies for smart city environments and multimodal artificial intelligence. Professor Jinsoo Hwang was also selected for the second consecutive year in the Social Sciences category. His research focuses on analyzing consumer behavior by applying emerging technologies, including drone-based food delivery, facial recognition–based payment systems, and 3D printing–driven food technology, to the food service industry. To enhance the generalizability of his findings, he actively conducts international collaborative research using multi-country samples. President Jong-Hwa Eom commented, “Being named Highly Cited Researchers for two consecutive years reflects both the consistency and the global impact of their research achievements. Sejong University will continue to strengthen research support and create an environment that enables outstanding scholarly accomplishments.” |
