Sejong University Ranks No. 1 Nationwide for the Second Consecutive Year in the Ratio of International Students in Degree Programs - Strong performance reaffirms the university’s leadership in globalization and international student recruitment -
Sejong University announced on November 26 that it has been ranked No. 1 nationwide for the second consecutive year in the category of “Ratio of International Students in Degree Programs” in the 2025 JoongAng Daily University Rankings. According to the 2025 evaluation results, Sejong University recorded an international student ratio of 19.6% across its undergraduate programs and the General Graduate School, the highest among all 53 institutions assessed. This indicator is widely recognized as a key measure of a university’s global competitiveness, international appeal, and its ability to attract highly qualified international talent. After first reaching the top position in 2024, Sejong University successfully retained its No. 1 ranking in 2025, further solidifying its status as a national leader in higher education internationalization. The university’s strong performance is attributed to its comprehensive international student support system, the expansion of global partnerships, and the continuous enhancement of standardized and transparent admissions and management processes. In parallel with its achievements in internationalization, Sejong University also demonstrated outstanding research capability. In the 2025 evaluation, the university ranked No. 1 nationwide in “Technology Transfer Income per Faculty Member,” and placed No. 2 nationwide for the second consecutive year in “International Journal Publications per Faculty Member,” underscoring its growing research capacity and global academic influence. Chung Hun Lee, Vice President for International Affairs, stated that achieving the No. 1 national ranking for the second year in a row clearly demonstrates the effectiveness of Sejong University’s globalization strategy and provides a solid foundation for realizing its mid- to long-term vision of hosting 6,000 international students. He added that the university will continue to strengthen international joint research, expand global partnerships, and advance its standardized admissions and support systems as it progresses toward becoming a truly world-class global institution. |
