Introduction

The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics nurtures future-ready experts who lead the industry by combining creative thinking with integrative problem-solving skills. Through a curriculum that spans both theory and hands-on practice, students build practical capabilities to respond flexibly to technological change.

Recently, AI technologies—including generative AI, computer vision, natural language processing, and autonomous control—have advanced rapidly, while robotics has broadened its applications across smart logistics, healthcare, collaborative robots, and more. In particular, the convergence of these two fields is emerging as a key driver of high-value sectors, including industrial automation, smart manufacturing, and service robotics.

In step with these trends, the Department aims to cultivate creative, practice-oriented professionals who understand AI and robotics in an integrated manner and can apply them directly to real-world industries. Beyond lecture-based learning, our curriculum includes diverse project-based courses and labs that help students gain experience in understanding and solving authentic industrial problems.

The major covers core technologies such as artificial intelligence, deep learning, robotics, mobility, sensors and instrumentation, and embedded systems, while also providing broad exposure to collaborative robots, mobile robots, and wearable robots. Through courses such as AI-Robot Project, Capstone Design, and special lectures on AI Robotics/Mobility, students strengthen their field experience and develop both practical skills and creative problem-solving abilities.

Graduates pursue careers across a wide range of industries, including AI and robotics companies, autonomous-driving firms, defense industry companies, and smart-manufacturing enterprises. Typical roles include machine learning engineer, robotics software developer, AI application systems designer, embedded systems developer, and data engineer. Students may also advance to graduate school or join professional research institutes to grow into key R&D talent.
