Introduction

The Korean Language and Culture major cultivates language and culture experts capable of communicating and teaching in the international community through systematic education in Korean language and culture. Students build fundamental linguistic skills through Korean language materials and literary works, while also developing a comprehensive understanding of Korea's politics, economy, society, and culture, enabling them to grow into global leaders with expertise in Korea.

The program aims to cultivate Korean language educators, interpreters, and cultural content planners. To achieve this, the curriculum encompasses diverse areas such as Korean language, Korean culture, Korean studies, cross-cultural understanding, and content practice. Linguistics-based courses such as "Korean Semantics and Pragmatics," "Second Language Acquisition," "Korean Grammar and Orthography," and "Contrastive Linguistic Understanding of Korean" provide a solid theoretical foundation. Practical classes such as "Korean Pronunciation Practice" and "Korean Presentations and Discussions" systematically enhance practical Korean language proficiency. Content-focused courses such as "Understanding Global Media," "Cultural Content Studies," "Contemporary Korean Culture and Content Planning," and "Korean Classical Culture and Content Planning" enhance students' understanding of the cultural landscape and cultivate practical project and planning capabilities. Furthermore, practical translation classes such as "Korean–Chinese Translation Seminar" and "Introduction to Media Translation" contribute to students' career diversification. Through an integrated curriculum that balances language, culture, education, and practical experience, the Korean Language and Culture major is at the forefront of fostering language and culture experts who connect Korea and the world.
